The Winston Prouty Center is seeking part-time support staff for the Family Shelter on our campus in Brattleboro, Vermont. This person will join the team responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of shelter residents on mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
The following shifts are available:
- Fridays 4:00pm-12:00am
- Saturdays 8:30am-4:30pm
- Sundays 4:00pm-12:00am
- Additional per diem shifts for coverage of other team members throughout the week
Responsibilities
- Demonstrating knowledge and consistent implementation of all shelter policies and procedures.
- Supporting families to understand and follow all policies and procedures.
- Maintaining a safe, clean, respectful environment for all shelter residents and colleagues.
- Communicating problems immediately to supervisor.
- Seeking support and guidance in urgent situations, knowing when to seek emergency services.
- Modeling healthy communication and a positive demeanor with all shelter residents and colleagues.
- Maintaining required shelter documentation.
- Supporting parents and families during busy or transitional times of day (e.g. weekday mornings, evenings at bedtime, etc).
- Serving as mandated reporter to appropriate social service agencies.
- Maintaining confidentiality as required by the Winston Prouty Center, state and federal regulations.

Preferred Qualifications
- Associates degree in human services or a related field.
- Two or more years of experience working with families with young children who have been homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Pay: $22.00 per hour
