Position Overview
Atigun Group is seeking an experienced Mechanical Lead to lead all mechanical maintenance and repair in a multi-site federal facilities Operations & Maintenance (O&M) and Full Maintenance contract supporting a Government Campus in Edison, NJ.
This role has full responsibility for mechanical systems throughout the campus and works directly for the Project Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide full lifecycle management of mechanical equipment to include systems as large as 300 tons.
- Diagnostics expert: Installs and troubleshoots lighting (fixtures, ballasts/LED drivers), motors/VFDs, MCCs, sanitary pump controls, breakers/fuses, and lab circuits (isolated grounds, clean power); executes modernization of distribution systems, CMMS-driven PMs, detailed as-builts, and strict code/safety compliance.
- Performs diagnostics, parts replacement, corrective repairs, and PM aligned to OEM and government schedules;
- Executes testing and balancing (TAB), vibration/oil analysis;
- Uses CMMS to optimize uptime.
- Oversee:
- Preventive and corrective maintenance programs
- Quality Control (QC) and inspections
- Ensure compliance with:
- NJ and NEC/NFPA regulations
- Safety, environmental, and training requirements
- Manage subcontractors and vendors
Minimum Qualifications
- Five (5) years as a licensed HVAC&R technician and NJ Black Seal Experience a minimum 300 ton chiller, 250 BHP boiler, air handlers (filters), lab fume hoods, refrigeration, and generator systems.
- Controls, installation, and distribution expertise: Proficiency with pneumatic and electric/BAS controls (calibration, sequencing, troubleshooting).
- Demonstrated experience managing:
- Federal, commercial, or institutional buildings electrical systems of similar size/complexity
- Strong knowledge of:
- Mechanical systems (HVAC, boilers, chillers)
- Preventive maintenance programs
- Experience interpreting:
- Technical specifications
- Blueprints and construction documents
- Proven experience managing subcontractors
- Strong communication and leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior federal contract experience
- Background in multi-building portfolios
- Licensed HVAC&R in the state of NJ
- NJ Black Seal Experience

Pay: $65,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
