Duties
- Develop and implement comprehensive public relations strategies that align with organizational goals and community interests.
- Write, edit, and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other communication materials using AP style to ensure clarity and professionalism.
- Cultivate strong relationships with media outlets, journalists, bloggers, and community leaders to secure positive coverage and partnerships.
- Manage social media platforms by creating engaging content, scheduling posts, responding to inquiries, and analyzing engagement metrics to optimize outreach efforts.
- Coordinate public speaking engagements, community events, and outreach initiatives to promote organizational initiatives and foster community involvement.
- Conduct research on community needs, media trends, and public opinion to inform strategic communications planning.
- Oversee website content updates, ensuring information is current, accurate, and aligned with branding standards.
- Proofread all written materials for accuracy, consistency, and adherence to organizational voice standards before publication.
- Collaborate with marketing and graphic design teams to produce visually appealing content that supports messaging goals.
- Monitor media coverage and public sentiment to evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies; prepare reports for leadership review.
Experience
- Proven experience in public relations, strategic communications, or related fields within a professional setting.
- Strong writing skills with the ability to craft clear, engaging content across multiple channels including press releases, social media posts, and website copy.
- Excellent verbal communication skills suitable for public speaking engagements and community interactions.
- Familiarity with AP style guidelines for journalistic writing.
- Experience managing social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) including content marketing and analytics tools.
- Knowledge of media relations tactics such as pitching stories and building relationships with journalists.
- Ability to conduct research effectively to support strategic planning efforts.
- Basic graphic design skills or familiarity with visual content creation tools are a plus.
- Experience in editing written materials for clarity and accuracy; proficiency in proofreading is essential.
- Working knowledge of website management systems (CMS) is preferred; ability to update web content confidently.
