Role Overview
The Data Engineer / ETL Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting enterprise data integration, ETL/ELT pipelines, and modern data warehousing solutions. This role works across cloud and on‑premises environments to build scalable, reliable data pipelines and reporting systems. The position partners with cross‑functional teams to implement data‑driven solutions, support production systems, and contribute to modernization initiatives using cloud and advanced analytics technologies.
Key Responsibilities
ETL/ELT Development & Data Engineering
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL and ELT pipelines for data extraction, transformation, and loading
- Build and support data integration solutions across enterprise systems
- Develop SQL scripts, stored procedures, and custom data transformation logic
- Support batch processing and data ingestion workflows
Cloud Data Platforms & Warehousing
- Develop and maintain data warehouse solutions using Snowflake and cloud platforms
- Work with modern cloud data architectures in AWS or Azure environments
- Support data warehouse implementation, optimization, and modernization initiatives
- Apply best practices for data modeling, storage, and performance
Data Integration & Pipeline Automation
- Design and implement data pipelines using tools such as Kafka, Oracle GoldenGate, or Striim
- Automate workflows and data pipelines across cloud and on‑premise systems
- Manage change data capture (CDC) processes and data synchronization
- Ensure data pipelines meet performance and SLA requirements
Reporting & Analytics Support
- Develop dashboards and reports using Tableau Desktop
- Support Tableau infrastructure including security, release management, and troubleshooting
- Translate business intelligence requirements into data and reporting solutions
Production Support & Issue Resolution
- Provide support for data warehouse operations, including troubleshooting data load and transformation issues
- Perform root cause analysis and coordinate resolution of production incidents
- Monitor data jobs, dependencies, and batch schedules
Architecture, Standards & Best Practices
- Provide design recommendations aligned with long‑term IT strategy
- Develop and maintain data engineering standards, reusable code frameworks, and best practices
- Contribute to enterprise architecture discussions and solution design activities
Collaboration & Delivery
- Work closely with Scrum teams including architects, developers, QA, and DevOps
- Participate in Agile development processes and cross‑functional collaboration
- Act as a technical mentor and subject matter expert for data engineering practices
Documentation & Quality Assurance
- Document data pipelines, processes, and implementation details
- Ensure testing, validation, and quality assurance practices are followed
- Maintain clear and accessible technical documentation for knowledge transfer
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience
- 2 or more years of experience in programming or systems analysis
- Experience with ETL/ELT development and data warehousing concepts
- Experience working with Snowflake and Snowflake SQL
- Proficiency in SQL development including scripting and stored procedures
- Experience with data pipeline and integration tools such as Kafka or Oracle GoldenGate
- Experience with modern programming languages such as Python, C#, or Scala
- Experience with Tableau for reporting and dashboard development
- Experience working in cloud environments such as AWS or Azure
- Experience with batch job scheduling and data job dependency management
- Strong understanding of data formats such as CSV, XML, and JSON
- Experience supporting production data environments and troubleshooting issues
- Strong communication and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Alteryx for ETL/ELT development
- Experience with advanced data modeling and data warehouse architecture
- Familiarity with Unix scripting and automation
- Experience with CI/CD and DevOps tools
- Experience with Generative AI tools and developer productivity platforms such as GitHub Copilot
