We are looking for a full-time Parent-teen Mediator (Masters Level) to work as a part of a team with our Parent-Teen Specialist (Bachelor level) within our Parent Teen Mediation Program.
What does the program do?
The Parent-Teen Mediation program provides team-based in-home counseling to families with children 8-21 years old who are experiencing conflict, struggling to create or maintain a positive home environment, or having difficulty managing a child or teenager’s behavior. The program primarily focuses on structure, communication and relationship building skills to enhance family function and to ensure and safety for at-risk children and families.
Summary
The Parent-Teen Mediator plays a vital role in facilitating communication and conflict resolution within families. This position is essential in promoting healthy relationships and ensuring that children are raised in safe environments.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate sessions in the home and/or community between youth and their families to resolve conflicts and improve communication.
- Provide support to parents in understanding their roles and responsibilities in child-rearing.
- Collaborate with team member to develop and implement strategies to promote positive family dynamics.
- Collaborate with community agencies to connect families with necessary resources.
Parent-Teen staff have the option to participate in a rotating on-call crisis schedule (additional compensation provided during on-call time).
What experience do I need to apply?
- Master's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with families, children, and community organizations.
- Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience working with adolescents and families
- At least one full year of experience in in family therapy and/or conflict resolution with youth and their families
- Experience working in home environments
- Knowledge of theories and evidence-based practice related to working with adolescents and their families
- Able to maintain a flexible work schedule throughout the week, including weekends to meet with youth and their families, if applicable
