Litigation Associate Attorney Requirements & Qualifications

Juris Doctor (JD) and Pennsylvania Bar admission required

Solid Civil litigation experience
-
Strong experience taking and defending depositions
-
Experience drafting and responding to discovery and motions
-
Ability to manage cases independently from discovery through resolution

Excellent legal writing, analytical, and communication skills
Litigation Associate Attorney Preferred Background & Skills

Background in personal injury, general liability, or civil litigation

Trial experience (first- or second-chair) preferred

Experience in a law firm setting handling a full caseload

Proficiency with legal research tools (Westlaw, Lexis), document management systems, and case management software

Litigation Associate Attorney Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Manage a caseload of civil litigation matters from inception through resolution

Take and defend depositions of clients, witnesses, and experts

Draft and respond to discovery, including interrogatories and document production

Draft, file, and argue motions, including dispositive and pre-trial motions
-
Prepare cases for trial, including strategy development, witness preparation, and exhibit organization

Participate in trial (first- or second-chair opportunities based on experience)

Communicate directly with clients and contribute to case strategy

Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel and insurance adjusters
