Excavating Laborer Job Description
We are looking for an Excavating Laborer. Assists with site preparation, excavation, and construction projects by performing physical labor and supporting equipment operators.
We complete a high volume of water and sewer line contracts, including many prevailing wage projects offering significantly higher pay opportunities.
Prevailing wage starting at $50 an hour
Responsibilities:
- Dig trenches, holes, and foundations using hand tools and equipment.
- Assist in grading, leveling, and preparing job sites.
- Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment.
- Install and repair underground utilities such as water, sewer, and drainage lines.
- Follow site plans, measurements, and safety guidelines.
- Direct traffic and assist with maintaining a safe work zone.
- Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas.
- Perform general labor duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (50+ pounds).
- Basic knowledge of construction and excavation practices preferred.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Experience operating construction equipment is a plus but not required.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Transportation to and from job sites
