Job Overview
SUMMARY
Maintains a strong proficiency in SolidWorks, mechanical design, and hands‑on assembly experience. This role is responsible for designing components and assemblies, and ensuring that engineered solutions meet performance, quality, and cost objectives with a focus on enhancing the procedures, systems, and principles in the areas of Custom Projects and Montalvo Automated Systems. Serves in a lead role for custom projects and machine builds. Working with other departments, responsibilities include timeline creation and management, establishing and conducting meetings and reviews, directing and coordinating with assigned individuals on tasks, and overall management of the project flow to ensure custom project timelines are met with quality and profitability. Salary to be based upon experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Develop detailed 3D models, assemblies, and drawings using SolidWorks based upon specifications received from sales and customers for custom products and projects.
· Create and maintain BOMs, engineering documentation, and revision control.
· Design mechanical components with consideration for manufacturability, cost, and performance.
· Support assembly operations, including fit‑up checks, tolerance reviews, and troubleshooting.
· Collaborate with production, quality, and operations teams to resolve design or assembly issues.
· Conduct engineering calculations and basic structural or thermal analyses as needed.
· Support sales teams in North America, Europe and Asia with feedback on custom projects quoting.
· Maintain a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve design, profit, and quality.
· Manage multiple engineering projects and deadlines simultaneously.
· Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
· Proficiency in SolidWorks (parts, assemblies, drawings, configurations, PDM preferred)
· Experience with mechanical assembly, production support, or hands‑on prototyping
· Ability to interpret and create technical drawings, schematics, and specifications
· Familiarity with machining, fabrication, or manufacturing processes
· Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Syteline)
· Knowledge of automation, pneumatics, or electromechanical systems
· Exposure to FEA tools or simulation modules in SolidWorks
· Experience in a manufacturing or industrial equipment environment
Pay: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
