Brookview Healthcare Center is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Floor Technician to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our residents, visitors, and staff. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, has experience with commercial floor care, and understands the importance of maintaining a healthcare environment.
Position Summary
The Floor Technician is responsible for the maintenance, restoration, and appearance of all hard surface floors and carpets throughout the facility. This position ensures floors are clean, polished, safe, and well-maintained while following infection control and safety standards.
Essential Job Duties
- Buff, burnish, strip, scrub, and wax hard surface floors.
- Operate and maintain floor care equipment, including buffers, burnishers and scrubbers.
- Perform routine cleaning of entryways, hallways, common areas, and resident rooms as assigned.
- Remove scuff marks, stains, and spills promptly.
- Inspect flooring for damage and report maintenance concerns.
- Follow infection prevention, OSHA, and facility safety guidelines.
- Properly use and store cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Maintain equipment in good working condition and report repairs when needed.
- Place appropriate safety signage while performing floor care.
- Assist the Housekeeping Department with general cleaning duties when necessary.
- Respond promptly to emergency cleaning requests.
- Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude with residents, families, and coworkers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous floor care experience in a healthcare, commercial, or hospitality setting preferred.
- Experience operating commercial floor equipment.
- Knowledge of floor finishes, stripping, waxing, buffing, and carpet care.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent attendance and reliability.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and reach.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Push and pull heavy floor care equipment.
- Work around cleaning chemicals while using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
