Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Financial Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. Responsibilities
- Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing processes.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and accuracy.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and ensure regulatory compliance accounting practices are followed diligently.
- Lead financial analysis and forecasting activities to support budgeting and strategic planning initiatives.
- Supervise and manage accounting teams, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes professional growth.
- Utilize financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms to streamline operations and improve data analysis through Excel data analysis techniques.
- Ensure adherence to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and other regulatory reporting requirements specific to nonprofit, governmental, or public accounting sectors.
- Support treasury management activities including cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, and payment processing.
- Assist with internal audits and external audits by providing necessary documentation and insights into financial processes.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in corporate accounting with a strong understanding of GAAP, IFRS, and regulatory compliance standards.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing accounting functions such as general ledger reconciliation, account analysis, payroll processing, and financial close processing.
- Familiarity with nonprofit accounting principles, governmental accounting practices, or public accounting environments is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in financial concepts including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, cost accounting analysis, and financial report writing.
- Strong technical skills in financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero or similar platforms; advanced Excel data analysis skills preferred.
- Experience managing accounting teams with a focus on finance team management and leadership capabilities.
- Knowledge of international accounting standards and experience with regulatory compliance accounting is advantageous.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data for effective decision-making.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; professional certifications such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) are a plus.
