American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a NICU-based night shift role at a Level II Trauma Center, requiring 2+ years of experience and the ability to float across adult ICU, ED, and pediatric units.

Short-term acute care hospital setting at a 431-bed Level II Trauma Center

Primary unit is NICU, with required rotation to adult floors, adult ICU/stepdown, ED, and pediatric unit based on facility needs
-
NICU assignments vary based on patient acuity

Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
-
Every other weekend required, plus every other holiday
-
Potential for mandatory on-call up to 2 shifts per month

Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
-
Block scheduling available at manager's discretion

Charting via Epic

Wine-colored scrubs required
-
Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience

Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and CRTT — ACLS may be pending at start with a 90-day window to obtain

VA state license required, or proof of application for VA license submitted alongside another state license (national license not accepted) — license required if applicable

Adult critical care, ED, and community hospital experience required

Proficiency in airway management, medication administration, ABG draw and analysis, O2 therapy, suctioning, pulmonary toileting, BiPAP, CPAP, and nebulizer therapy

Ability to provide aerosol, bronchial hygiene, and lung inflation therapies on night shift

RTO requests are subject to manager's discretion and must be disclosed at the time of initial submission

NICU, ED, and adult ICU experience preferred but experience in all areas is not required

NRP and RRT credentials are preferred

Level 2 trauma and neonatal/adult intensive care experience preferred

Attendance at monthly department meetings is expected when working; when not scheduled, candidates must review meeting minutes and submit written acknowledgment to management

2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
