Overview
The El Paso Center for Seizures and Epilepsy (EPCSE) believes all children with seizures and epilepsy should receive excellent, specialized neurologic care. Our goal is to make this care accessible to all children in the El Paso region, regardless of English proficiency, health insurance status or ability to pay.
We are looking for a nurse practitioner/physician assistant to help us provide care for these children in need. No neurology experience necessary. We provide on-the-job training in a positive and safe work environment. We are young and growing fast and our goal is to expand to the east side within 2-3 years.
Job Description:
- No neurology experience needed (just desire and ability to learn quickly) --We love to teach: no question is a stupid question.
- 32-hour work week (Weds off)
- No after hours or weekend shifts
- No on-call responsibilities
- On-the job training and heavy supervision will be available at all times.
- IMPORTANT: We invest significant time, energy & money in training our APPs: we are only seeking candidates looking for a long-term position.
Job Requirements:
- Valid Nurse Practitioner license (Pediatric or Family Medicine) or Physician Assistant certification
- Must be a quick learner with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Organization, attention-to-detail and efficiency (in written and verbal communication)
- Confidence and ability to embrace change as the clinic grows & adapts its processes
- Ability to work with patients with chronic conditions and/or disabilities
- Strong team member: we are a small clinic and rely on each other
- Ability to take histories and answer phone calls in Spanish is required
- Experience in other outpatient pediatric specialty clinics a plus
- Must be able to start immediately /no more than 2-3 weeks
Job Duties:
- Take efficient but thorough histories & conduct physical examinations (infants through adolescents) Must be able to redirect caregivers to get a thorough but efficient history
- Assist in the diagnosis and management of seizure disorders
- Educate patients and families on seizure safety and first aid
- Maintain accurate/detailed and efficient documentation of all patient encounters
- Work together with the MAs, NP and MD to respond to patient phone calls and portal communications
- You will be supported in the learning process- for the first 8-12 months, you will staff all of your patients with another provider (MD/NP)

- Outpatient clinic
- 32-hour work week

Pay:
- Salary commensurate with experience.
