Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Sheet Metal Superintendent to lead and oversee all aspects of sheet metal construction projects. This role involves managing on-site operations, supervising teams, ensuring safety compliance, and maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess strong construction management expertise, extensive experience in commercial construction, and a proven ability to coordinate complex projects from start to finish. As a key leader on our team, you will drive project success through effective management of crews, adherence to safety regulations, and meticulous review of technical drawings and schematics.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise sheet metal crews on construction sites, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications.
- Coordinate construction schedules, manage daily work activities, and ensure timely completion of project milestones.
- Review blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and construction documents to interpret project requirements accurately.
- Oversee quality control measures, conduct site inspections, and ensure compliance with OSHA standards and federal construction safety regulations.
- Manage procurement of materials using construction management software such as ProCore or Bluebeam; track inventory and ensure proper use of resources.
- Collaborate with project managers to develop budgets, monitor costs, and assist in construction estimating processes.
- Supervise subcontractors and manage crew performance; provide clear managerial communication to foster teamwork and accountability.
- Ensure adherence to construction regulations, safety protocols, and industry best practices throughout all phases of the project.
- Utilize Primavera P6 or HeavyBid for project scheduling and cost control; coordinate construction schedules with other trades for seamless execution.
- Conduct regular site meetings to review progress, address issues promptly, and update project schedules accordingly.
Requirements
- Proven experience supervising sheet metal or commercial construction projects with a strong background in managing teams in a construction management role.
- Extensive knowledge of blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and technical drawings related to sheet metal work.
- Proficiency with construction management software such as ProCore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, HeavyBid or equivalent tools.
- Familiarity with OSHA standards, federal construction safety regulations, and industry-specific safety protocols including Construction Safety Management practices.
- Strong understanding of construction scheduling, project coordination, budgeting, and quality control processes.
- Hands-on experience with construction site operations including interpreting technical drawings and supervising crew activities.
- Excellent communication skills for managing teams effectively and coordinating with clients or stakeholders.
- Ability to interpret technical schematics using tools such as ohmmeters when necessary for electrical components within sheet metal systems.
- Valid management credentials or certifications related to heavy industry safety standards preferred; relevant certifications such as OSHA 30-hour or 40-hour training are highly desirable.
