Legal Intake & Sales Specialist – Criminal Defense
Location: Fort Worth, Texas
Schedule: Full-time, in office Monday through Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Must also be willing to respond to prospective-client calls after hours when needed.
Salary: $60,000 plus performance-based commission
About the Opportunity
A growing boutique criminal defense firm in Fort Worth is seeking a driven, phone-first sales professional to convert prospective-client inquiries into signed cases.
This is not a traditional administrative intake position. You will speak with warm leads who have already contacted the firm for help with a criminal matter.
Your job is to evaluate their needs, determine whether the matter is a potential fit, communicate the value of the firm’s services, overcome objections, and guide qualified prospects toward retaining the firm.
The ideal candidate approaches the position like an Account Executive: competitive, numbers-driven, persistent, and motivated by the opportunity to increase earnings through individual performance.
Criminal defense experience is helpful, but natural sales ability, coachability, and a proven ability to close are most important.
Responsibilities
Handle inbound calls and inquiries from prospective criminal defense clients
Build trust quickly with individuals who may be experiencing stressful or urgent circumstances
Ask thoughtful questions to understand each prospective client’s situation and needs
Evaluate and qualify leads based on the firm’s case criteria
Clearly explain the firm’s services, value, and next steps
Address questions and objections confidently and professionally
Convert qualified prospective clients into signed clients
Consistently follow up with leads who do not retain the firm during the initial conversation
Manage prospects through the entire sales pipeline, from first contact through signed agreement
Maintain detailed and accurate lead, follow-up, and conversion information in the CRM
Track individual activity, conversion rates, signed cases, and other performance metrics
Collaborate with attorneys and legal staff to ensure a smooth handoff after a client retains the firm
Identify opportunities to improve scripts, follow-up strategies, workflows, and conversion results
Remain available to respond to occasional prospective-client calls outside regular business hours
Qualifications
At least one year of consultative or phone-based sales experience
Proven history of meeting or exceeding sales goals or quotas
Strong closing, objection-handling, and follow-up skills
Comfortable spending a substantial portion of the workday speaking with prospective clients by phone
Competitive, goal-oriented, and motivated by performance-based earnings
High emotional intelligence and the ability to balance empathy with a direct, results-focused approach
Able to establish credibility and trust quickly
Persistent without being overly aggressive
Coachable, adaptable, and willing to refine your sales approach
Organized and able to manage multiple leads and follow-up deadlines
Comfortable being measured against conversion and revenue goals
Able to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment
Comfortable regularly hearing sensitive, graphic, or potentially upsetting details related to criminal matters
Willing to respond to prospective-client calls outside regular business hours when needed
Able to commute to the Fort Worth office five days per week
Preferred Background
Criminal defense intake or sales
Plaintiff personal injury intake
Law-firm intake involving lead conversion and client retention
Insurance, healthcare, financial services, staffing, SaaS, or another professional-services sales environment
