Job Overview
The Town of Riverhead is seeking A qualified individual to serve in the FT position of Maintenance Mechanic III in the Building and Grounds division of the Engineering department. This position will be primarily responsible for the maintenance of the HVAC systems throughout the Town owned buildings. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and possess a clean, valid driver's license.
Responsibilities
- Maintains the heating, ventilating and air conditions (HVAC) system installation, operation, maintenance trouble shooting and repair for all Town owned buildings;
- Diagnoses low voltage HVAC control systems;
- Replaces HAC equipment fan belts and filters, replacing small fan motors;
- Works on natural gas furnaces and equipment including trouble shotting and repairing gas fired equipment;
Qualifications
(a) Completion of two (2) years of vocational education courses in a vocational school program or in an apprentice or training program in one of the craft areas, and two (2) years of experience in the craft or specialty to which the incumbent will be assigned; or,
(b) Four (4) years of experience in the craft or specialty to which the incumbent will be assigned; or,
(c) An equivalent combination of the above education, or training, and experience as defined by the limits of (a) and (b); or,
(d) One (1) year of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic II.

Pay: $57,748.71 per year
