Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews.
- Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and perform suturing with aseptic technique.
- Manage complex care needs such as dialysis, ventilator support, catheterization, and tube feeding.
- Document patient information accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Cerner or Athenahealth.
- Collaborate with physicians and specialists in areas including cardiology, ophthalmology, infectious disease care, trauma medicine, and geriatrics.
- Provide emergency response procedures in critical situations within Level I or Level II trauma center environments.
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations like laboratory specimen collection, phlebotomy, sonography, and medical imaging.
- Support discharge planning, case management, and long-term care coordination for patients in nursing homes or assisted living facilities.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols to safeguard patient confidentiality and safety.
- Participate in ongoing training related to ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, MDS assessments for long-term care facilities, and other medical documentation standards.
Skills
- Proven experience working in diverse healthcare settings such as ICU, emergency room, outpatient clinics, or home care.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Cerner or Athenahealth; familiarity with laboratory experience is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology.
- Skilled in critical care procedures such as airway management, trauma response, acute pain management, and neonatal resuscitation procedures.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays; knowledge of dementia and Alzheimer’s care is preferred.
- Ability to perform venipuncture, IV insertion/injection administration, catheter care, and sterile processing techniques.
- Excellent communication skills for effective patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as ACLS or PALS are desirable.
- Knowledge of Workers’ Compensation law related to occupational health cases; experience in hospice & palliative medicine is a plus.

Pay: $50.00 - $55.00 per hour
