Job Overview
We are seeking candidates for a Medical Director for the Somerset Outpatient Program of Bedford-Somerset Developmental & Behavioral Health Services (DBHS). This position provides clinical leadership to support compassionate, trauma-informed behavioral health services within a community-based setting.
Responsibilities
- Provides psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and ongoing treatment for individuals (10+) receiving outpatient services, with an emphasis on safety, respect, and collaboration. Develops individualized treatment plans and monitors progress to ensure care remains responsive to each person’s needs and goals. Services are delivered in-person or via telehealth to enhance accessibility.
- Prescribes and manages psychotropic medications using a collaborative, informed approach. Engages individuals and, when appropriate, their supports and primary care providers in shared decision-making. Orders and reviews lab work as needed and follows current best practices in psychiatric care.
- Collaborates with the Outpatient Supervisor, therapists, and nursing staff to support coordinated, team-based care. Provides clinical consultation, reviews and signs treatment plans, participates in clinical staff meetings, and offers guidance to ensure services are consistent, strengths-based, and effective.
- Supports continuity of care through participation in discharge planning and coordination with community providers. May provide expert psychiatric testimony when required.
- Maintains collaborative relationships with community agencies to support integrated care. Provides training to staff on psychotropic medications, including use, side effects, and adherence considerations.
- Reviews agency policies and procedures and offers clinical input to ensure alignment with trauma-informed, ethical, and best practice standards.
- Throughout all responsibilities, this role promotes an environment of safety, trust, collaboration, and empowerment for individuals receiving services and staff.

Requirements
- Must be licensed in the state of Pennsylvania.
- Required to enter into and maintain a collaborative practice agreement with PMHNPs in accordance with applicable regulations and agency policy.
- Required to participate in the preceptor program supporting student training and supervision.
Pay: From $125.00 per hour
