School Custodian (Contracted through EduStaff)
2026-2027 School Year
Shift: Please note-this is a 4 hours shift from 5-9 PM Monday thru Friday and you will be required to work in all buildings and on occasion multiple locations during one shift.
RATE: $16 per hour
Reports to Operations Coordinator and Building Principal
Parchment School District partners with Edustaff for all custodial services. The district manages all day to day assignments and duties. Joint our amazing team of custodians that ensure a clean and safe environment for the total school community. Position will float to various buildings.
JOB SUMMARY:
School Custodians are responsible for maintaining a clean, safe and organized environment within their building/work space and grounds in order to support daily operations.
KEY DUTIES:

Communication-maintain open communication with building team, lead and coordinator

Floors-sweep, mop, and vacuum
-
Restrooms-Clean and replenish supplies
-
Trash-Empty inside and outside trash receptacles

Surfaces-wash windows, walls, desks, tables, chairs, etc

Events-Set up, tear down
-
Lifting/Moving-moving tables, boxes, etc, must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Grounds-assist with snow removal and salting as needed

Maintenance-perform minor maintenance tasks and report any issues to coordinator

Supplies-keep supplies organized, place orders if 1st shift, communicate with building team regarding order and storage of supplies

Security-Opening and/or closing of building through security system

Safety-comply with all OSHA regulations

Travel between buildings may be required

Blood Borne Pathogen remediation following protocol
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent preferred
-
Ability to work independently and as a team
-
Ability to communicate both verbally and written
-
Dependable, on time and thorough in duties
-
Previous custodial experience a plus but not required
-
Criminal Background check and finger prints at your cost
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
-
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
-
Ability to put 12 seater lunch tables up, down and roll in and out of storage

Ability to push, pull, team carry heavy objects such as furniture and equipment
-
Ability to perform repetitive motion

Ability to walk, stand, stoop, bend, reach, etc frequently and for extended periods

Ability to perform manual dexterity when working with tools and equipment
-
Ability to work at heights and climb ladders
WORKING CONDITIONS:

Exposure to cleaning chemicals and solutions (PPE provided)

Indoor and outdoor work required in all weather conditions

Work area may be noisy, crowded or unsanitary

Exposure to bodily fluids and cleaning chemicals
-
Working in a school environment inherently carries risk of exposure to communicable pests(eg, lice and bed bugs) and environmental insects such as ants and mice.
