The Opportunity
The FSQA Analyst for Direct Imports is responsible for ensuring the safety, quality, and regulatory compliance of imported food products. This The Opportunity involves a comprehensive understanding of food safety regulations, quality standards, and import/export procedures. The analyst will work closely with suppliers, internal teams, and regulatory agencies to guarantee product integrity and adherence to all applicable requirements. You Will
- Work closely with processing centers, merchandising and supply chain to conduct product evaluation and improvement projects, ensure products comply with regulatory requirement, product specification and customer’s satisfaction
- Review vendor program, product specification, labels and claims for approval. Implement Food Safety and Quality Assurance program and keeps improvement to ensure compliance on FDA / USDA, GFSI / HACCP and industry standard
- Liaise with FDA / USDA / GFSI and other FSQA inspectors on the inspection. Take or coordinate corrective action to ensure all business practice comply with the regulation and standard
- Evaluate suppliers based on food safety and quality standards, conducting desk or onsite audits and inspections as needed
- Effectively communicate food safety and compliance information to internal and external stakeholders
- Respond to food safety incidents and product recalls, conducting thorough investigations and implementing corrective actions
- Investigate customer complaints with vendors and initiate corrective actions. Provide clear corrective action feedback to vendors and monitor improvement progress
- Maintain and update accurate and organized records of all food safety and compliance activities, including documentation, correspondence, and audit reports
- Conduct trend analysis and summary report to the management team regularly for improvements

You Should Have / Be
- Post-secondary degree in food science, food chemistry, food microbiology, public health, or other related disciplines
- Sound knowledge of both US and international regulatory requirements for food products, with additional knowledge of health and beauty product regulations a plus
- HACCP certificate and 3 or more years of work experience in food safety, quality assurance or related field required
- Sound knowledge of Foreign Supplier Verification Programs (FSVP) for importers is an asset
- Strong analytical skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to make convincing & assertive recommendations.
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility in handling multiple tasks
- Detail orientated and the ability to work under pressure and meets deadlines.
- Works in various environment condition
- Follows different work schedules including evenings, weekends and statutory holidays when needed
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English
- Chinese, other Asian language or Spanish is a bonus
- Good database management skill, computer skills, project scheduling, follow-up and result summary skills
- Possess valid driver license and be willing to travel for business within US, Canada, or internationally as needed, up to 20% of the time
Shift
5-day work week (Monday to Friday), 9:00am – 5:30pm (Actual working hours may vary slightly by department, depending on operational needs.)
