Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide vital assistance and care to individuals with diverse needs, including developmental disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, and age-related conditions. Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts or manual handling techniques.
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare teams promptly.
- Support medication administration in accordance with care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs while maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards.
- Implement personalized care plans designed by healthcare professionals to promote independence and enhance quality of life.
- Maintain a safe environment through regular cleaning, organizing living spaces, and adhering to infection control protocols.
- Document resident progress accurately in care records, including patient monitoring notes, incident reports, and updates on care plans.
- Engage in active patient observation to identify signs of dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or other neurodegenerative conditions requiring specialized memory or hospice care.
- Collaborate with team members in home health or community care settings to deliver consistent support across various environments.
- Assist with transportation or outings as needed to promote social engagement and community involvement.
Skills
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of patient care techniques including CPR, First Aid, manual handling, and medication administration.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality of resident information at all times.
- Ability to observe patients carefully for changes in condition and respond appropriately with patience and empathy.
- Excellent communication skills for working effectively with residents who have disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism or dementia.
- Competence in meal preparation, cleaning routines, and maintaining a safe living environment.
- Experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities or geriatrics is advantageous.
- Physical stamina for heavy lifting and assisting residents with mobility challenges using assistive devices like Hoyer lifts or transfer belts.
- Knowledge of care planning processes and documentation standards within long-term or home health care settings.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
