POSITION TITLE: SUPPLY CHAIN BUYER
The Supply Chain Buyer will be responsible for sourcing and procuring raw materials, components, equipment, and services necessary to produce steel products. This is a corporate role collaborating with a team of other Supply Chain professionals supporting seven districts. The role requires a detail-oriented individual, effective communication with stakeholders, strong negotiation skills and a deep understanding of the steel industry.
POSITION REPORTS TO: Director of Supply Chain
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with suppliers to ensure a reliable supply chain
- Negotiation: Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to secure the best possible deals
- Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production and warehouse teams to maintain optimal stock levels
- Order Processing: Prepare and process purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery of materials.
- Market Analysis: Stay updated on market trends, pricing fluctuations, and new products to make informed purchasing decisions
- Compliance: Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies and industry regulations.
- Cost Control: Implement cost-saving strategies without compromising quality
- Reporting: Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance. Generate regular reports for management review
- Continuous Improvement: Lead/Manage/Implement at least one Purchasing key initiative during the calendar year
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or related experience
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in supply chain management with an emphasis on procurement is preferred, as well as preferred experience in the steel or manufacturing industry
SKILLS:
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Holistic view of ERP and expertise in MRP
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- Critical thinking and analytical mindset with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
