Field Service Technician – Access Control & Video Surveillance

We are seeking an experienced Field Service Technician who can work independently, troubleshoot complex issues, and provide exceptional service to our customers throughout the Midwest.
Position Overview
This is not an entry-level installation position.
This role is focused on the service, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of CCTV, access control, and low-voltage systems. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently in the field, interacting directly with customers, diagnosing issues, and resolving problems with minimal supervision.
Our customers include manufacturing facilities, warehouses, distribution centers, office environments, and commercial locations throughout Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience with CCTV, Access Control, and Low Voltage systems
- Experience installing, servicing, and troubleshooting electronic security systems
- Strong understanding of access control hardware, door devices, readers, locks, controllers, and related infrastructure
- Experience with IP-based camera systems and video management platforms
- Low-voltage cabling experience including Cat5e, Cat6, and coaxial cable
- Ability to read floor plans, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage assigned service calls
- Experience working safely on ladders, lifts, and in commercial environments
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record

- Fiber optic installation and troubleshooting
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
- Scissor lift and boom lift experience
- Manufacturing and warehouse environment experience
- Security industry certifications
Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform service, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of CCTV, access control, intercom, and related security systems
- Diagnose hardware, software, networking, and connectivity issues
- Install and replace cameras, readers, controllers, locks, and associated devices
- Program and configure access control and video surveillance systems
- Troubleshoot PoE devices, network connectivity, IP addressing, and system communications
- Install, terminate, label, test, and document low-voltage cabling
- Complete service documentation, closeout reports, and customer sign-offs
- Communicate effectively with customers, project managers, dispatch, and engineering teams
- Support project installations, upgrades, and system expansions as required
- Deliver professional customer service while representing Tec-Tel in the field

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour
