Milwaukee Public Schools is actively recruiting qualified candidates for school counselor ;positions. Selected candidates will be assigned to multiple schools for the 2026-27 school year. Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.
A Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) counselor provides support services to students, staff, and parents. The ;duties are focused on the overall delivery ;counseling program realized through guidance curriculum, individual student planning and responsive services. Additional responsibilities include school programming in Infinite Campus, student rostering/scheduling, maintaining individual student Academic and Career Plans, etc. ;The school counseling program is offered in an equitable, multi-cultural setting and helps all students in the areas of academic achievement, personal/social development and career development. The counselor's work ;supports the MPS strategic plan. ;

At the time of hire, the selected candidate will be required to submit one letter of recommendation dated within the last year and signed by the author, as well as official transcripts confirming undergraduate and graduate degree,.

Hold a School Counselor (7054) license issued by the Department of Public Instruction ;

If you are not a licensed school counselor, you must be enrolled in a graduate program to obtain the required school counseling license or be willing to enroll in a licensing program within one semester of hire. The school counselor salary range starts at $61,785.62 and increases according to the set salary schedule based on previous years of fully-licensed K-12 counseling or teaching experience. ;
