Better Half of Me Behavioral Wellness is preparing to open a premium, 10-bed Behavioral Health Residential Facility in Phoenix, Arizona.
We are seeking an experienced Arizona Registered Nurse to provide contracted, PRN and on-call nursing support for our residential program.
This is not expected to be a traditional full-time bedside-nursing position. The RN will help establish nursing procedures before opening and provide scheduled and as-needed nursing support after residents are admitted.
The ideal candidate has behavioral-health, psychiatric, residential or community-health experience and is comfortable working collaboratively with the Clinical Director, Administrator, medical providers and direct-care staff.
Anticipated Schedule
- Flexible scheduled visits based on resident census and clinical needs.
- Additional availability for new-admission nursing assessments when required.
- Periodic staff training and medication-record reviews.
- Telephone consultation for urgent nursing questions according to an agreed-upon on-call arrangement.
- Hours may increase as facility census grows.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and reviewing nursing policies, procedures, forms and workflows before opening.
- Provide direction for nursing services within the RN’s scope and contracted responsibilities.
- Complete or review nursing assessments as required.
- Review resident medical histories, medications, allergies and health-related needs.
- Coordinate with prescribing providers, pharmacies, primary-care providers and other healthcare professionals.
- Review medication-administration records and medication-storage practices.
- Identify medication discrepancies, adverse reactions and potential health risks.
- Provide staff education regarding medications, infection control, vital signs, documentation and recognizing changes in resident condition.
- Help develop procedures for medication errors, adverse reactions and medical emergencies.
- Provide consultation regarding resident health concerns.
- Document all nursing services and recommendations.
- Support continuity of care during admission, transfer and discharge.
- Participate in quality-management reviews involving nursing or health-related services.
- Assist with inspection readiness and responses to nursing-related compliance concerns.
- Maintain professional licensure, insurance and required credentials.
Arizona defines nursing services as services performed at the direction of a physician by, or under the supervision of, a registered nurse licensed in the state.

- Psychiatric or behavioral-health nursing experience.

- Experience with medication-administration systems and medication-record audits.
- Experience training unlicensed direct-care personnel.
- Familiarity with Arizona behavioral-health regulations.
