Overview
We are looking for a Senior Patent Prosecution Associate with 6+ years of experience to take ownership of high-value patent portfolios for technology companies and universities at a growing IP boutique. This is an opportunity for a seasoned practitioner with a CS/EE background who wants direct client relationships, access to firm leadership, and a path to build their own practice.
What will you be doing?
- Serve as the primary relationship attorney for key industry and university clients
- Lead prosecution of complex U.S. and international patent families, including those involved in IPR, litigation, and licensing
- Develop prosecution strategies with enforcement and licensing objectives in mind
- Mentor junior attorneys and agents while collaborating with firm leadership
- Manage and grow your own practice with direct client engagement
Key Requirements
- BS/BA in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field (must have sufficient technical credits to qualify for the patent bar)
- J.D. and active USPTO registration required
- 6+ years of patent prosecution experience at a law firm
- Must work in-person 5 days/week in Pasadena, CA (hybrid possible after onboarding)
- Unofficial undergraduate, postgrad, and law school transcripts required before interview

- Serve as primary relationship attorney for assigned industry and university clients
- Lead prosecution of high-value U.S. and international patent families
- Prosecute patent applications informed by IPR, litigation, or licensing activity
- Develop prosecution strategies with enforcement and licensing objectives
- Draft and respond to office actions, conduct examiner interviews, and manage appeals
- Analyze prior art, invalidity positions, and litigation records
- Prepare and review claim charts and support infringement and licensing analyses
- Mentor junior attorneys and agents and collaborate with cross-functional teams
Pay: $160,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
