Job Description: The Greensman, under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent or Foreman, is responsible for the care and maintenance of several designated holes on the golf course, does semi-skilled grounds construction and maintenance work, and other related work, as directed. The Greensman may occasionally perform work involving large equipment, including
Reports To: Golf Course Superintendent
Duties:
- Operates powered mowing equipment in trimming golf course greens, aprons, and tees
- Waters and fertilizes tees, greens, and fairways
- Grades and prepares the base for turf
- Lays sod and performs seeding on tees, greens, and fairways
- Changes pins and tee markers
- Maintains ball washers, sand traps, and water hazards
- Repairs and replaces pipe on the irrigation system
- Install forms and lays walkways, using gravel and asphalt mixes
- Applies chemicals on greens
- Operates trucks and other light equipment in hauling materials and removing debris
- Trims and prunes shrubbery and flowers
- Cultivates shrubs and flowers
Requirements:
Skills & Experience:
- Requires basic knowledge of the tools, methods, and materials used in grounds and landscape area construction and maintenance work
- Ability to operate trucks and light motorized equipment
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
