Job Summary
We are seeking dedicated Special Education Teachers to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with students with diverse learning needs and creating an inclusive educational environment.
Duties
- Utilize scholars’ IEPs to inform instructional assessments that provide meaningful measurements of scholars’ growth towards goals;
- Implement instructional practices for scholars with disabilities and culturally and linguistically diverse scholars, including specially designed instruction, Universal Design for Learning, culturally responsive-sustaining teaching, intervention techniques, modified curriculum, IEP writing, and compliance;
- Develop and teach highly engaging, standards-based, academically rigorous curriculum and lessons;
- Write and update monthly progress reports;
- Collaborate and communicate regularly with the Special Education Coordinator;
- Ensure compliance with all pertinent special education laws and policies;
- Inspire students to hold themselves to high standards of academics and character;
- Establish and uphold classroom routines to ensure a focused, safe and caring environment
- Analyze assessment data and use it to inform and differentiate your instruction;
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and ensure student mastery of standards;
- Maintain close relationships with families, including phone calls and conferences; and
- Develop and lead an advisory group of 12-15 scholars that is focused on social/emotional well-being (Middle School Grades)
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field; Master's degree preferred
- New York State certification in Special Education (REQUIRED)
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs
- A strong commitment to all students with the belief that all students can learn and must be held to high academic standards
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and best practices in special education
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet individual student needs
- Proficiency in behavior management techniques
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
