Duties
- Perform comprehensive inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on trailers, including brake systems, suspensions, hydraulics, air brakes, and electrical components.
- Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues accurately.
- Conduct fabrication tasks such as welding, cutting, and assembling parts to repair or modify trailers and equipment.
- Service heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery to ensure optimal operation.
- Replace or repair transmissions, shocks & struts, tires, HVAC systems, and other critical components using power tools and hand tools.
- Maintain detailed service records of repairs performed and parts used; ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Assist with the assembly of new trailers or equipment and perform routine maintenance to prevent future breakdowns.
Requirements
- Proven mechanic experience with a focus on trailer or heavy equipment repair; dealership experience is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics, electrical systems, hydraulics, suspension systems, and diesel engine repair.
- Ability to read schematics and technical manuals accurately for troubleshooting purposes.
- Skilled in welding, soldering, fabrication techniques, and the use of power tools for equipment repair.
- Experience operating heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors-trailers, or similar industrial equipment.
- Familiarity with vehicle maintenance procedures including brake repair, alignment adjustments, air brake systems, shocks & struts replacement.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a proactive approach to maintenance and repairs.
