Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mortgage Assistant to join our dynamic financial services team. Duties
- Assist loan officers in preparing and reviewing mortgage documentation, including contracts, disclosures, and escrow agreements.
- Support the loan origination process by gathering necessary client information, verifying credit reports, and ensuring all documentation meets TRID (TILA-RESPA Integrated Disclosure) compliance standards.
- Coordinate with internal teams to process loan applications efficiently while adhering to federal and state regulations such as FNMA (Fannie Mae), FHA (Federal Housing Administration), VA (Veterans Affairs), and conventional mortgage guidelines.
- Conduct credit analysis to evaluate borrower eligibility, ensuring compliance with Fair Housing regulations and lending standards.
- Maintain accurate records of loan processing activities using Encompass or other industry-standard mortgage servicing software.
- Communicate effectively with clients, lenders, underwriters, and internal departments to facilitate smooth loan processing and client satisfaction.
- Monitor loan documentation for completeness and accuracy, ensuring adherence to all applicable compliance standards including TILA (Truth in Lending Act) and other federal regulations.
Experience
- Proven experience in loan origination or mortgage processing within the financial services or banking industry.
- Strong knowledge of mortgage products such as FHA loans, VA loans, conventional mortgages, and industry-specific regulations like TRID and TILA.
- Familiarity with FNMA guidelines, mortgage servicing procedures, underwriting processes, and credit analysis techniques.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for documentation and reporting purposes.
- Experience working with mortgage software platforms such as Encompass or similar loan processing tools.
- Excellent internal communication skills to coordinate effectively across teams while maintaining high levels of customer service.
- Basic math skills including 10-key typing accuracy for data entry tasks.
- Knowledge of banking regulatory compliance related to lending practices and financial services industry standards.
