The Shipper/Receiver – Forklift Driver is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient movement, loading, unloading, receiving, staging, and shipment of raw materials, finished goods, supplies, and other materials throughout the facility. This position combines hands-on material handling and forklift operation with shipping and receiving transactions, inventory control, documentation, and computer-based administrative responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Safely operate forklifts and other authorized material-handling equipment in accordance with safety requirements and site procedures. Load and unload trucks, trailers, and other inbound and outbound shipments safely and efficiently.
Receive incoming raw materials, supplies, packaging, equipment, and other goods and verify shipments against applicable receiving documentation. Move finished goods and other materials to designated warehouse, staging, production, shipping, or storage locations.
Stage outbound shipments according to shipping schedules, customer requirements, and supervisor direction. Verify product identification, quantities, lot information, labels, and shipping documentation before loading or moving materials.
Complete required shipping, receiving, inventory, and material movement transactions using SAP and other company systems. Recognize discrepancies involving shipments, receipts, inventory, or material locations and take appropriate action or promptly escalate the issue.
Maintain accurate inventory and material locations within designated storage areas and sub-inventories. Understand the relationship between physical inventory and system inventory and assist with reconciliation of discrepancies.
Perform inventory counts and support cycle-counting activities as required. Maintain a working knowledge of storeroom versus non-storeroom materials and the appropriate processes for locating and receiving those materials.
Develop and maintain a working knowledge of Tank Farm operations and applicable material-handling requirements. Inspect forklifts and other assigned equipment before operation and immediately report unsafe conditions, damage, or mechanical concerns.
Maintain shipping, receiving, warehouse, dock, and staging areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition. Follow plant traffic rules, pedestrian controls, dock safety requirements, PPE requirements, and all applicable EHS procedures.
Communicate effectively with Shipping/Receiving, Production, Warehouse, Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, carriers, and other departments as required. Assist with problem-solving involving orders, receipts, inventory, material availability, and shipping requirements.
Complete required paperwork and electronic documentation accurately and in a timely manner. Support operational priorities and perform other shipping, receiving, warehouse, and material-handling duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Skills
2 Years experience operating forklifts
Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory and shipping accuracy.
Basic computer proficiency and ability to work in a Windows-based computer environment.
Ability to learn and effectively use SAP and other shipping, receiving, and inventory systems.
Ability to understand shipping and receiving processes, inventory locations, and sub-inventory logic. Ability to identify discrepancies involving orders, receipts, inventory, or shipments and assist in resolving them.
Ability to read and understand shipping documents, labels, work instructions, procedures, and safety requirements.
Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with supervisors and other departments.
Previous shipping, receiving, warehouse, manufacturing, or material-handling experience.
Previous SAP experience is a plus. Safety Responsibilities
Operate powered industrial trucks only when properly trained and authorized. Conduct required pre-use equipment inspections.
Follow established speed limits, traffic patterns, pedestrian-right-of-way requirements, and designated travel routes. Properly secure, position, and transport loads.
Follow dock, trailer, loading, unloading, and trailer-restraint procedures. Immediately report damaged materials, unsafe equipment, spills, near misses, injuries, and other safety concerns.
Follow all applicable safety policies, procedures, PPE requirements, and environmental requirements. Stop work and seek supervisory assistance when a task or condition cannot be performed safely. Physical Requirements
Frequently enter and exit powered industrial equipment. Stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform material-handling activities throughout the shift.
Work around moving equipment, trailers, loading docks, warehouse traffic, and manufacturing operations. Work in varying temperatures and environmental conditions associated with warehouse and manufacturing operations.
Wear all required personal protective equipment. Meet the physical demands of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
