American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Medical/Surgical (Adult) position in Hilo, Hawaii, requiring 2+ years of med/surg experience and an active Hawaii RN license.

Hospital-based medical/surgical unit serving adult patients (18 and over)
-
50-bed medical unit with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
-
Floating may be required to surgical, pediatric, or transitional care units
-
Day shift position scheduled 36 hours per week following the first full week of orientation
-
Various shift lengths and days required — flexibility is essential
-
15-week contract
-
Meditech EMR and Pyxis medication dispensing system in use
-
Additional equipment includes wound vacs and chest tubes

Active Hawaii (HI) RN license required by start of assignment — candidates without one must apply upon acceptance

Minimum 2 years of med/surg or higher-level acute care experience

BLS required; ACLS preferred

Ability to work various shift lengths and days with a flexible schedule

All travelers must report to Employee Health 48–72 hours prior to the start of assignment; this appointment takes place at the Hilo Employee Health office and is mandatory

Plan to arrive in Hawaii the Thursday before a Monday start date to attend the Employee Health appointment on Friday morning

Orientation is included in the first full week of the assignment

No holiday RTO requests will be accepted

Professional nursing attire required; no specific scrub color requirement; closed-toe shoes must be worn
