Duties
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately to process sales, returns, and exchanges with speed and precision
- Handle cash, credit, and digital payments confidently while maintaining strict cash handling procedures
- Assist customers with product inquiries, provide product demos when applicable, and suggest additional items through upselling techniques
- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area, ensuring merchandise is well-stocked and properly merchandised
- Support merchandising efforts by stocking shelves, rotating products, and ensuring displays are attractive and inviting
- Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette when answering inquiries or assisting customers remotely
- Engage customers in friendly conversations to enhance their shopping experience and promote store promotions or loyalty programs
Qualifications
- Previous retail sales or grocery store experience preferred; familiarity with retail math and basic math skills essential for cash handling accuracy
- Proficiency with POS systems and cash register operations required
- Strong communication skills in both verbal and written forms; bilingual abilities are a plus
- Experience supervising or leading team members is advantageous but not mandatory
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate loads, and perform physical tasks related to stocking and merchandising
- Knowledge of grocery store operations, customer service best practices, and sales techniques highly desirable
- Demonstrated ability to deliver excellent customer service with professionalism and patience
