Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all equipment is ready for procedures in accordance with dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management policies.
- Assist dentists during various procedures such as oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and implant dentistry by passing instruments, managing suction, and maintaining a clear operative field.
- Take high-quality dental x-rays using dental x-ray equipment and 3D scanners while adhering to radiation safety protocols and HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Manage patient records efficiently using patient management software FUSE by Patterson, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, vital signs, and treatment notes in compliance with clinical confidentiality policies.
- Provide excellent patient care by explaining procedures, answering questions about dental terminology, and assisting with patient comfort throughout visits.
- Perform dental instrument processing including cleaning, sterilization, and storage to ensure aseptic techniques are maintained at all times.
- Support front desk operations as a dental receptionist when needed by managing appointment scheduling, confirming appointments via patient management software, and greeting patients warmly.
- Maintain knowledge of general dentistry practices as well as specialized areas such as oral surgery or endodontics to assist effectively across diverse treatment needs.
- Follow healthcare infection prevention and control guidelines diligently to uphold safety standards for patients and staff alike.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with familiarity in dental assisting duties.
- Must speak English, or have an easy capacity to learn. Must know the names of instruments in English and be able to communicate with patients.
- Capacity to learn FUSE operating system for managing medical records and documentation.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
- Certification in dental radiography (X-ray) is required; additional certifications in infection control or CPR are preferred.
- Strong understanding of dental equipment operation including intraoral cameras, 3D scanners, and other clinical tools.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques efficiently.
- Must be efficient and fast making temporary crowns, packing cords and scanning as well as flipping rooms.
- Commitment to clinical confidentiality policies and healthcare infection prevention practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while maintaining high standards of infection prevention management and aseptic technique.
Important Information:
- This is a full time position, although training will only happen on Fridays for at least 4 weeks.
- This is a lead DA position; you will be expected to carry the office as the only dental assistant if/when fully hired after the training period.
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
