Duties
- Collaborate with surgeons, patients, and administrative staff to develop detailed surgical plans and schedules.
- Prepare and review surgical documentation, including operative reports.
- Accurately assign Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes, and International Classification of Diseases (ICD-9 and ICD-10) codes for procedures and diagnoses.
- Ensure all medical records are complete, organized, and compliant with healthcare regulations.
- Submit claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, verifying accuracy before submission.
- Stay current with coding updates, insurance policies, and billing regulations to maintain compliance and optimize reimbursement.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical office administration or medical billing with familiarity in surgical planning support preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare documentation standards.
- Proficiency in medical coding including DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems.
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems for documentation and billing purposes.
- Excellent attention to detail to ensure accurate coding and billing practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, insurance providers, and patients.
- Knowledge of medical collection procedures and insurance claim processing is a plus.
