Job Summary:
Assists Providers by performing medical procedures for clinic patients following the practices established standards and procedures. Works with other areas in the practice to assure that procedures and activities are performed efficiently. The Providers and staff work together as a team to provide a continuum of health care needs. In addition, the position assignments and scheduled hours may vary to provide quality health care.
Education & Experience:
Certified Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) preferred. High school graduate or GED. Completion of accredited medical assisting or LPN course or and minimum three years’ experience in a physician office or medical clinic setting preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills with the flexibility to work on multiple tasks at one time. Able to communicate with patients and staff. Able to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. React calmly and effectively in emergency situation. Able to obtain pertinent information to effectively schedule new patients as well as follow-up appointments
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a physician office environment. Involves developing and maintaining effective relationships with medical and administrative staff, patients and the public. Communications may involve dealing with difficult, persistent or upset people. Requires full range of body motion including, but not limited to, bending, lifting, finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing, walking and /or sitting for extended periods of time along with the potential for irregular hours.
Essential Functions:
- Performs patient care services including admission interview, assessment, and accurate documentation and maintain patient flow.
- Ensure patient is appropriately prepared for the care encounter. Obtains information, including medical records, pertinent to the patients’ care.
- Documents patient records as described by the Providers.
- Triage patient care to ensure priority is provided to patients in an emergency situation as well as patient telephone calls under the direct supervision of the Providers. Receives and responds to incoming calls as appropriate.
- Assists Providers with exams, treatments, procedures and testing as directed.
- Provides patient and family education pertaining to healthcare management, disease process, treatment, tests, medication and follow-up under direct supervision of the Providers. Maintain and update the patient education materials and consent forms.
- Administers prescribed medications, as ordered by the healthcare provider, in accordance with practice policy and procedure.
- Functions as a resource for clinic staff involving patient care issues.
- Prepares clinic rooms for daily patient care and between patients. Responsible for sterilization and restocking instruments.
- Orders DME, drugs and supplies as needed.
- Assists with front office reception as needed.
- Participates in communication with the clinic and public relations programs. Attends office meetings and participates in special projects as assigned.
- Demonstrates a professional attitude and approach with patients while ensuring confidentiality of patient and practice information.
- Enhances professional growth and development through in-service meetings and educational programs.
- Attends required office meetings and participates in committees as requested.
- Exhibits flexibility in work place and takes initiative in offering to help other departments when indicated. Participates in special programs as assigned.
- Maintains strictest confidentiality.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Pay: $14.00 - $22.00 per hour
