The right person needs to understand construction, communicate professionally with customers, anticipate problems, and make sure our crews have the information they need before arriving on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Preview upcoming projects before mobilization and verify existing site conditions, access, phasing, quantities, drainage, traffic flow, and potential conflicts.
- Review plans, proposals, specifications, scopes, and job requirements for larger projects.
- Meet with customers, general contractors, property managers, engineers, and other project stakeholders.
- Serve as a primary customer contact throughout the project.
- Participate in pre-construction and project coordination meetings.
- Work closely with estimating and operations to ensure the field understands exactly what was sold and what is expected.
- Develop and communicate project phasing and sequencing.
- Identify potential problems before they impact production.
- Coordinate scheduling requirements with Empire’s operations team.
- Track project progress, scope changes, additional work, and change-order opportunities.
- Document site conditions and customer-directed changes.
- Help ensure projects remain on schedule and within the intended scope.
- Communicate delays, changes, access issues, and scheduling requirements with customers.
- Perform jobsite visits throughout larger projects to verify progress and customer satisfaction.
- Assist with project closeout, punch-list items, and final customer communication.
- Maintain strong relationships with customers and help generate repeat business.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in commercial paving, excavation, concrete, sitework, heavy civil construction, or general contracting preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction plans, specifications, quantities, and field operations.
- Ability to walk a project and recognize potential production or logistical problems.
- Excellent customer communication and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple active projects.
- Comfortable working both in the office and in the field.
- Able to communicate effectively with customers, estimators, superintendents, foremen, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Strong sense of urgency and follow-through.
