Description:
Summary
The Inspection Technician is responsible for performing inspections and quality checks on manufactured components to ensure products meet established specifications, customer requirements, and company quality standards. This position works closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality personnel to identify and address quality issues while maintaining accurate inspection records and documentation.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections of machined and manufactured components.
- Inspect parts for dimensional accuracy, workmanship, appearance, and conformance to drawings and specifications.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, work instructions, and customer specifications.
- Use precision measuring and inspection equipment, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, thread gauges, and other measuring tools.
- Operate and assist with advanced inspection equipment such as CMMs, optical comparators, or vision systems, as applicable.
- Document inspection results accurately and maintain required quality records.
- Identify, document, and communicate nonconforming material or product.
- Assist with root-cause investigations and corrective action activities when quality issues arise.
- Work with production personnel to communicate inspection results and help resolve quality concerns.
- Verify that materials, components, and finished products meet applicable specifications before release.
- Perform sampling inspections and in-process checks according to established procedures and inspection plans.
- Assist with maintaining and organizing inspection equipment and the inspection area.
- Identify potential quality trends and communicate recurring issues to the Quality team.
- Support calibration activities and ensure measuring equipment is properly maintained and used.
- Follow all company safety policies, quality procedures, and applicable ISO requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality of customer, product, and company information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in quality inspection, manufacturing, machining, or a related field preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Basic understanding of dimensional inspection and measurement principles.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic computer skills and ability to enter and maintain inspection data.
