As a 1:1 School Nurse (RN), you will:
- Caring for medically complex students, including tracheostomy care, wheelchair assistance, and monitoring respiratory status.
- Ability to provide one-on-one care for a high school student throughout the school day, including medication administration, trach care, monitoring, and responding to medical needs.
- Must be comfortable assisting with toileting and personal care; female RN preferred due to the student’s toileting needs.
- Must be available to ride the school bus with the student to and from school each day and remain with the student throughout the school day.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills required to work with the student, family, school staff, transportation personnel, and healthcare providers.
- Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate with emergency services when necessary
- Educate students, staff, and parents on health-related topics, including disease prevention, hygiene, and wellness
A few must-haves for School Nurses:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with an active RN license in Indiana
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in pediatric, school health, or community health nursing
- Trach Experience is required
- Current CPR certification
- Strong assessment skills, critical thinking, and the ability to work independently
- Compassionate communicator who values collaboration with students, staff, and families
