THE OPD WILL HIRE AT EITHER THE POLICE OFFICER LEVEL OR THE POLICE OFFICER TRAINEE LEVEL.
Attain the necessary training and state certifications to perform intermediate protective service work involving a variety of general or support duty police assignments; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision. This is a training position in which the police officer trainee will attend the Law Enforcement Academy and pass the state certification exam. The City of Oviedo will pay the costs associated with the Police Academy and the trainee will be responsible for completion of the Police Officer Trainee Program and become a certified police officer for the City of Oviedo with a contract for a two-year minimum commitment.

Regularly attend the Law Enforcement Academy.
Successfully complete all areas of study while attending the Law Enforcement Academy.
Pass the State of Florida Law Enforcement Certification Examination.
