Position Summary
Pearlie Mae’s Compassion & Care is seeking compassionate, dependable, and dedicated Residential Aides to provide quality care and support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Residential Aides play a vital role in helping individuals live as independently as possible while ensuring their health, safety, dignity, and well-being.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
● Provide direct care and supervision to individuals receiving services.
● Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and personal hygiene as needed.
● Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning.
● Administer medications as trained and authorized according to agency policy.
● Transport individuals to medical appointments, community activities, shopping, employment, and recreational outings.
● Encourage community integration and participation in meaningful activities.
● Complete accurate documentation, including daily progress notes, medication records, incident reports, and other required paperwork.
● Maintain a clean, safe, and organized home environment.
● Monitor and report changes in an individual’s physical, emotional, or behavioral condition.
● Implement each person’s Person-Centered Support Plan (PCSP) and behavior support strategies.
● Treat every individual with dignity, respect, compassion, and professionalism while protecting their rights and confidentiality.
● Follow all agency policies, Kansas HCBS regulations, and safety procedures.
● Attend required training sessions, staff meetings, and continuing education.
● Additional Essential Duty
● Administer and monitor physician-prescribed medications in accordance with physician orders, agency policies, state regulations, and required training. Accurately document medication administration on the Medication Administration Record (MAR), observe for side effects or adverse reactions, promptly report concerns to the appropriate supervisor and medical professionals, and ensure medications are stored, secured, and handled safely at all times.
Qualifications
● High school diploma or GED preferred.
● At least 18 years of age.
● Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
● Ability to pass criminal background checks and all required screenings.
● Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification. ( The company will place you in a class)
● Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
● Compassionate, patient, dependable, and committed to providing exceptional care.
● Problem solve.
Physical Requirements
● Ability to lift, transfer, push, or pull up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
● Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and assist individuals throughout the workday.
● Ability to respond quickly during emergencies.
