Accounting Department Description
The Accounting Department at Kano Consultants serves as a strategic business partner, providing financial and operational advisory support to company leadership and business units. The team is responsible for maintaining accurate accounting and bookkeeping records for both Kano Consultants and its external clients. In addition, the department supports financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, and other accounting functions that contribute to informed decision-making and effective business operations.
Job Description Summary
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced accountant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in auditing and Tax with a particular emphasis on navigating IRS regulations, procedures, and examinations. This role involves reviewing and approving company tax documents, performing comprehensive audits, ensuring compliance, identifying discrepancies, and providing expert advice to clients or internal stakeholders regarding tax matters.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support internal teams with preparing tax forms and documents for clients
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., tax, legal, finance) to support audit objectives and provide specialized IRS-related insights.
- Apply strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations to support tax compliance, filings, and audit readiness.
- Support research and analysis of tax regulations and compliance requirements
- Specialize in IRS regulations, policies, and procedures, providing expert guidance on compliance.
- Prepare detailed audit reports and present findings to management or clients, including recommendations for improvement.
- Review financial statements, records, and systems for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to established policies and legal requirements.
- Identify potential areas of risk and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Assist in responding to IRS inquiries, notices, and examinations, representing the company or clients as needed.
- Stay current with updates on changes in tax laws, accounting standards, and auditing methodologies and apply changes appropriately in work processes for best practices.
Job Qualifications
- Prior experience as an IRS auditor
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- EA or CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive auditing experience, with a significant portion specifically involving IRS audits, tax examinations, or direct work with IRS regulations.
- Strong understanding of U.S. federal and state tax regulations and basic IRS procedures. In-depth knowledge of IRS codes, regulations, and examination processes.
- Proven ability to interpret and apply complex tax laws and accounting principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in audit software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of integrity and professional ethics.
Work Location
This position is 100% remote.
