Stedman-Wade Health Services, Inc. is federally qualified community health center that provides primary and preventive medical, dental and behavioral health services.
The Behavior Health Technician provides direct support to patients receiving behavioral health services under the supervision of licensed behavioral health clinicians and medical providers. Responsibilities include assisting with patient flow, obtaining vital signs when indicated, administering behavioral health screenings, providing emotional support, reinforcing treatment plans, assisting with care coordination, facilitating psychoeducational activities, and helping maintain a safe, welcoming, trauma-informed clinical environment.
Patient Care and Behavioral Health Support Duties
- Greets and escorts patients throughout the behavioral health visit while promoting dignity, respect, privacy, and patient-centered care.
- Assists providers with patient flow and preparation for behavioral health appointments.
- Obtains vital signs, height, weight, and other clinical measurements as directed.
- Administers and documents standardized behavioral health screening tools.
- Assists patients with appointment scheduling, follow-up visits, referrals, and navigation of clinic services.
- Helps prepare educational materials and patient handouts.
- Coordinates communication between behavioral health, medical providers, nursing, care management, pharmacy, and community agencies.
- Assists with referrals to specialty behavioral health, substance use treatment, housing resources, transportation, food assistance, and other community resources.
- Supports patient outreach following missed appointments.
- Assists with population health initiatives and quality improvement projects.
Experience
Preferred 1-2 years working in the following settings:
- Behavioral Health
- Primary Care
- Community Mental Health
- Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC)
- Substance Use Treatment
- Crisis Services
- Social Services
Education
High School Diploma or GED required. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (MA), or Behavioral Health Technician certification preferred.
