1. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
Mechanical Design Engineer works within the mechanical design engineering team to maintain and improve existing standard products, works with the R&D team to design and develop a new product line and works with project engineers to design custom product per specific job’s request.
2. JOB SPECIFICATIONS - Education and Experience Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering/similar discipline or equivalent work experience/training highly preferred.
Job Duties:
Work in mechanical design engineering team on various projects to design, build, and improve wash equipment and systems for car wash and transit wash application;
Develop new wash equipment and systems with R&D team along the whole product life-cycle: concept design, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing;
Design custom machines and systems with project engineers per customer’s requirement by either modifying existing equipment or initiating a new product line, accomplished before the deadline.
Optimize mechanical components of current wash equipment and systems for energy efficiency, ease of installation, simplified maintenance, and cost reduction in manufacturing;
Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs, and applying that knowledge to product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling and materials to reach out lean manufacturing;
Ability to apply engineering methods (computer modeling, mechanics of materials, tolerance analysis, data analysis, experimental methods, and so forth) to assess performance, manufacturability, reliability of components, products and overall systems (preferred)
Apply knowledge of 3D-modeling in SolidWorks to maintain product models; develop engineering and manufacturing drawings for fabrication, assembly and installation by applicable standards including ASME Y14.5 2009;
Create and manage Part Numbers, Bill of Materials and other product related information in SAGE for production, accounting, sales, and another usage;
Generate technical and engineering documents, such as engineering testing and manufacturing bulletin, to assist the decision-making of product design, provide full details of production, installation, and maintenance besides engineering and manufacturing drawings and increase communication with other departments;
Act as a liaison with external suppliers to ensure continuity and accuracy of product supply by resolving supply and quality issues with purchasing/parts department.
Skills and Knowledge:
Knowledge of engineering principles including but not limited to mechanical design, pneumatics, plumbing, and electricity;
Must know SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modeling software, Microsoft Excel, Word, and
PowerPoint, as a minimum;
Knowledge of engineering standards in drawing practice, dimensioning and metrology tolerances, drawing symbols and welding practice per ASME Y14.5 2009 and AWS A2.4 2007;
Familiarity with standard engineering concepts, practices, and procedures with welding, assembly, plumbing, CNC machines, and other manufacturing shop machinery;
Must work well within team framework; team support experience;
Strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills;
Excellent Communication Skills, both written and verbal;
Ability to analyze, problem solve, multi-task and follow-up;
3. TRAINING REQUIRED
Training will be provided through Supervisors/Management Rep. during the 90-day probationary period and will be provided periodically throughout the year.
