Position Overview
Huntington County Community Corrections is seeking dedicated, professional individuals to serve as Living Unit Coordinators within our Restorative Residential Work Release Program. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, secure, and structured environment while supporting participants in making positive life changes through evidence-based practices and accountability.
Living Unit Coordinators supervise program participants, monitor facility operations, enforce policies and procedures, and help create an environment that promotes rehabilitation, responsibility, and successful reentry into the community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Living Unit Coordinator is responsible for the daily supervision and observation of participants residing in the work release facility. Duties include monitoring participant movement, conducting security checks of the facility and grounds, performing participant searches and screenings, processing participant releases, completing required documentation and disciplinary reports, and maintaining accurate control logs and records.
Staff are expected to utilize cognitive behavioral techniques and positive reinforcement strategies to encourage participant growth and behavior change while maintaining professional boundaries and ensuring compliance with all department policies and procedures.
Additional responsibilities include assisting with intake procedures, maintaining a clean and safe living environment, responding appropriately to emergencies, applying approved restraint techniques when necessary, and performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in criminal justice, social work, counseling, or a related field preferred.
- Training in Cognitive Behavioral Change techniques preferred.
- Valid Indiana driver's license and safe driving record required.
- Current or ability to obtain CPR, First Aid, and AED certification.
- Successful completion of physical restraint training.

Successful candidates will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries, and the capacity to effectively manage difficult or stressful situations.
Candidates should have:
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices and participant behavior management techniques.
- Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to suicidal behaviors and crisis situations.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Effective computer and documentation skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to interact professionally with participants, coworkers, partner agencies, and the public.
Physical Requirements
This position requires standing and walking for extended periods, bending, reaching, and lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds. Employees may be exposed to challenging situations involving disruptive or potentially violent individuals and must be capable of responding appropriately to emergency situations.
The position requires flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional extended hours.

Pay: Up to $19.57 per hour
