Responsibilities
- Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems including air conditioning units, refrigeration equipment, boilers, and mechanical systems.
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and building automation system controls to accurately diagnose issues.
- Conduct electrical diagnostics using tools such as ohmmeters and troubleshoot electrical components within HVAC equipment.
- Repair plumbing and mechanical systems related to HVAC operations, ensuring compliance with safety standards such as EPA regulations for refrigerants.
- Utilize welding skills for equipment repair or modification when necessary.
- Maintain detailed service records, logs, and reports for all repairs and inspections performed.
- Assist with HVAC design modifications or upgrades to improve system efficiency and performance.
- Operate a <PERSON> driver vehicle safely while transporting tools or equipment to job sites.
- Support property maintenance tasks related to air conditioning systems and building automation controls.
- Collaborate with team members on complex projects involving ammonia refrigeration or other specialized systems.
Experience
- Proven experience as an HVAC technician or service technician with a strong background in mechanical systems repair.
- Construction experience is highly valued for understanding large-scale system installations.
- Familiarity with schematics, wiring diagrams, and HVAC/R technical manuals is essential.
- Hands-on experience with refrigeration systems, including ammonia refrigeration if applicable.
- Knowledge of electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting using specialized tools like ohmmeters.
- Experience working with building automation systems (BAS) or HVAC control systems is preferred.
- Certification such as EPA 608 for refrigerant handling is required; additional certifications in plumbing or welding are a plus.
- Mechanical knowledge spanning boilers, pumps, motors, and other HVAC components is crucial for success in this role.
