Fine Dining Server
Overview
A downtown Saratoga Springs restaurant is seeking an experienced server for a polished, guest-centered dining room. This is a hands-on role for someone who understands that excellent service is more than accuracy - it's pacing, product knowledge, thinking ahead while being busy and forming genuine connection with guests.
This is not an entry-level serving position. The strongest candidates will have experience in a high-standard full-service restaurant, including chef-driven, destination, major-city, or similarly demanding dining. Experience in a regionally recognized restaurant is a bonus, but the quality and caliber of the experience you have matters most.
The right person has experience with coursed service, changing menus, thoughtful recommendations, and knows that excellent service includes something much larger, which is hospitality.
Duties
- Guest Experience- creating a warm, composed, and personal experience from welcome through farewell while reading the table and adjusting service to the guest.
- Menu Fluency - maintaining current knowledge of ingredients, preparations, daily changes, allergens, wine, spirits, cocktails, and appropriate pairings.
- Order Accuracy- entering food and beverage orders correctly in the POS while communicating allergies, special requests, timing, and coursing clearly to the kitchen and bar.
- Service Pacing - coordinating the progression of drinks, courses, clearing, and check presentation without rushing the table.
- Beverage Service - presenting and serving wine, cocktails, beer, and nonalcoholic beverages with confidence and attention to detail while following responsible alcohol-service practices.
- Dining Room Standards - keeping tables, service stations, glassware, and service tools clean, stocked, and ready throughout the shift.
- Team Support - helping with running food, clearing, resetting, prebussing, and sidework are part of it all. Contributing to the entire floor and food line rather than only your station.
- Guest Resolution - handling questions, dietary concerns, special occasions, and service issues with discretion, ownership, and timely communication with management.
Skills
- Relevant Experience - prior server experience in a polished, high-standard restaurant environment; experience in chef-driven, destination, major-city, or similarly demanding dining is strongly preferred.
- Judgment & Awareness - a natural understanding of timing, table, dining room and awareness of the entire restaurant
- Product Knowledge - comfort learning changing menus and speaking accurately about ingredients, preparations, wine, spirits, cocktails, and pairings.
- Time Management - being able to think ahead and prioritize while handling multiple tables efficiently during busy service without compromising quality. This includes helping other floor staff when time permits.
- Communication - clear, calm communication with guests, kitchen, bar, and floor team, especially during high-volume service.
- Professionalism - a composed, welcoming presence; reliable attendance; attention to detail; and a genuine interest in hospitality rather than simply taking orders.
- Physical Readiness - the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, carry trays safely, and perform the physical demands of a busy dinner service.
This is a strong fit for a server who takes pride in their work and feels satisfaction knowing that guests had an excellent experience. Someone who enjoys learning, and wants to work with a team that values warmth as much as precision.
We look forward to hearing from you!
