A confidential aerospace manufacturing employer is seeking a Manufacturing Manager II to lead our production operations with energy and precision. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day activities of specific manufacturing department(s), ensuring that the manufacturing department(s) meets its responsibilities by producing quality products in a timely manner to ensure that delivery schedules are met and that customers receive their product on time.
Summary of Duties
o Manage daily production activities of CNC machine department(s) including safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance
o Manage headcount and labor variances. Lead shift scheduling, labor planning, OT approval, and staff strategy
o Manage data integrity and capacity requirements
o Use ERP system, KPIs, and manufacturing data to monitor department performance, identify trends, improve decision making, and enhance production performance
o Own and monitor department KPIs and implement necessary changes to meet company goals and objectives
o Work with Material Planning to understand customer needs and requirements. Execute production plans to meet customer schedule
o Maintain a safe, clean (5S), and organized working environment for the manufacturing floor
o Manage daily preventative maintenance performed by production employees
o Interface with Engineering, Operations, Quality Assurance and Manufacturing, either verbally or with written documentation and reports
o Collaborate with the Director of Mfg. on best practices, strategies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance
o Perform other duties as assigned by Management
Team Development
o Hire, manage, coordinate, and perform training and integration of new employees into the workforce
o Develop department’s skill level as needed to ensure production of quality products, including cross training
o Appraises/monitors employee performance. Prepares and gives performance reviews, handles disciplinary measures when necessary
o Addresses complaints and resolves problems
o Foster a team culture of ownership, accountability, quality, and excellence
CNC Programming/Machining & Technical Leadership
o Help develop standard work, process flows, setup sheets, and production documentation
o Troubleshoot machining issues including chatter, tolerance drift, tool wear, and fixturing challenges
o Recommend and introduce cost saving measures and process improvements
Aerospace Quality & Compliance
o Work with quality assurance to ensure manufacturing of quality product
o Knowledge of ISO9001/AS9100 QMS (calibration, traceability, etc.)
o Able to read blueprints and check part dimensions with appropriate measuring instruments
o Performs first article inspections and in-process inspection of machined parts as required.
o Partner with Quality teams on NCR resolution, Root Cause and Corrective Action, and continuous improvement
Desired Experience:
A manufacturing manager with 10 years’ minimum of overall experience with 7 years’ experience in managing a manufacturing department in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate combines strong leadership and operational management skills with technical expertise in CNC programming and machining processes. CNC machining includes 3, 4 and 5-axis. Effective knowledge of Inventor and Master CAM/Veri cut software would be helpful. Experience with precision tolerances (~±0.001") and aerospace materials (Titanium, Inconel, Aluminum Alloys, Stainless Steels) and knowledge in fixturing and tooling strategy.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles including 6S concepts, VSM, SPC, Standard Work is essential.
Excellent communication skills and proven problem-solving abilities are necessary.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in business management, Manufacturing, Engineering or related field is preferred or combination of education and related experience at the discretion of upper management
Compensation:
- Base salary range of $100,000 - $120,000 (this is an exempt position). Pay will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience
- This position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus as approved by upper management, based on company & individual performance
