We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Support Group Facilitator specializing in Substance Abuse to join our dedicated behavioral health team. Responsibilities
- Lead engaging and structured support group sessions focused on substance abuse recovery, utilizing evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing.
- Conduct comprehensive client assessments to tailor group content and identify individual needs, including co-occurring disorders and trauma histories.
- Facilitate discussions that promote behavioral change, resilience, and relapse prevention while maintaining a supportive environment.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans, ensuring integration of mental health, substance use treatment, and social services.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in compliance with HIPAA standards, including progress notes, session summaries, and treatment plans within electronic health records (EHR).
- Provide crisis intervention when necessary, managing situations involving acute mental health or substance-related crises with professionalism and sensitivity.
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to addiction counseling, trauma-informed care, DSM-5 diagnostic criteria, and evidence-based practices for behavioral health.
Skills
- Strong background in psychotherapy techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and behavioral therapy.
- Experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
- Proficiency in crisis management, crisis intervention strategies, and client assessment in therapeutic settings.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical documentation standards, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and electronic health records (EHR/EHR management).
- Familiarity with addiction medicine principles, case management practices, and evidence-based behavioral health interventions.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations from various cultural backgrounds while maintaining patient confidentiality per HIPAA regulations.
- Excellent communication skills for client engagement and team collaboration; experience in group therapy facilitation is highly valued.
- Competence in data collection for research purposes or program evaluation related to mental health and substance abuse treatment.
