Direct Service Provider (DSP) - Day Services Program

We are looking for an individual who is responsible and aware of the necessity of flexibility this job requires. It is a position that will work 1st shift 9AM-4PM, Monday - Friday. You will arrive at the clients home in Oakwood to pick him up and take him to Day Program. You will work in Day Programming as a DSP with the group of individuals that are a part of programming. When the client is done for the day this staff person will take him home and provide Residential Care for him until 2nd shift arrives at 4PM. This client may want to stay the entire day until programming ends at 3PM or may desire to leave early. It will be the staff's job to confirm he does actually want to leave and inform management they will be leaving to take the client home. During Day Programming this staff member will be working Day Program as a full-time staff with the same expectations.
So, we are looking for an energetic person who brings fun and brightness to our clients in our Day Programming. This individual will be interactive, utilizing the resources available to create an engaging experience. This includes utilizing the game room, arts & crafts, computer lab, exercise space, and participating in community outings. This position will also be providing Transportation to the individual client as well (a company vehicle will be provided). Must have a driver's license, car insurance and an excellent driving record. This includes the ability to follow the driving policy. They must be able to meet program standards and expectations and be committed to completing anything that makes the program run well.
Your morning starts promptly at 9AM where you will arrive at the clients and bringing them to our Day Services Program by 9:30AM. If the client refuses, it means the staff member will be staying with the client and providing care in the residence for that day.
If the client does decide to attend Day Program that day, you will then work as a Direct Support Professional, providing care and support to all our clients throughout the day. At 3PM you will load up the client returning them to their home and complete your day by 4PM when 2nd shift arrives. In this time frame you could be cleaning, disinfecting, taking out trash, doing activities and training with clients or anything else required for the program run seamlessly for clients. There are no required weekends.
Job Duties include but are not limited to:
- Leading or assisting in activities and instruction
- Assist clients with toileting or changing
- Prepare meals and assist with clients with eating
- Assist in pushing wheelchairs, walking devices and clients with walking
- Helping load and unload clients from the transportation vehicles
- Cleaning, disinfecting, trash removal
- Providing transportation in a company vehicle of client to and from programming, to appointments or other necessary travel
- Providing care in the client's residence and meeting the clients needs
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Driver's License with a clean driving record - no points, citations or at-fault accidents in the last 2 years
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Must be able to pass a drug screen *medical marijuana card not accepted*
- Must be able to pass a basic physical
- Must have or be willing to get CPR/FA Certification
- Must have or be willing to get DSP Annual Certificate (this can be obtained at mylearning.dodd.ohio.gov website free of charge)
- Previous experience in home care, day services, or nursing of one year or more *this can be as a DSP, HHA, STNA, CNA, PCA/PCW, etc.* or Driving experience
- Previous experience with behavioral cases a plus
