Direct hire role at a premier, multi-site senior healthcare and long-term care organization in Los Angeles is seeking an experienced, strategic, and hands-on Director of Accounts Receivable. This executive leadership role will directly oversee the organization’s revenue cycle, managing the billing, collections, and financial compliance operations across multiple skilled nursing facilities (SNF) and senior living communities.
The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in California healthcare reimbursement models and a proven track record of optimizing AR processes, reducing days sales outstanding (DSO), and leading high-performing fiscal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Direct and optimize the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Receivable department, including billing, collections, cash applications, and financial reporting.
- Regulatory Compliance: Establish, monitor, and enforce departmental policies to ensure strict compliance with all federal, state (California), and local healthcare billing regulations and standards.
- Revenue Cycle Management: Oversee complex complex multi-payer billing systems, including Medicare, Medi-Cal, Medi-Cal Managed Care, HMO, PPO, and private pay structures.
- Team Development: Provide direct mentorship, training, and professional development to the AR Manager and billing staff; identify training needs regarding industry regulatory updates and billing software protocols.
- Analytics & Reporting: Leverage deep reporting tools to monitor billing cycles, track key performance indicators (KPIs), identify collection trends, and present financial metrics to executive leadership.
- Dispute Resolution: Oversee the resolution of complex billing discrepancies, complex appeals, and high-level escalations with residents, families, and insurance payers.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive accounts receivable and revenue cycle management experience within a healthcare environment.
- Industry Expertise: Must have extensive experience in Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) billing and long-term care operations. Strong working knowledge of California Medi-Cal and Medicare guidelines is required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in advanced healthcare billing software is required. Experience with MatrixCaresoftware is highly preferred. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs) for financial data analysis.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a closely related field is highly preferred.
- Skills: Exceptional leadership, analytical problem-solving, and communication skills, with a track record of driving process improvements.
